What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Skills Coach position at Mastering Life Skills?

Mastering Life Skills (MLS) promotes self-growth by meeting with participants and focusing on areas that can decrease stress and increase independence. Mastering Life Skills educates and empowers participants while including them throughout the entire learning process. All participants have been diagnosed with mental health illnesses, neurodevelopmental conditions, and/or substance abuse and have been referred to MLS. MLS strives to inspire and motivate participants by providing community resources and teaching adaptive strategies to manage their own mental health and related challenges in a variety of ways. This position focuses on teaching participants and/or their families new skills, and positive growth towards their recovery and wellness.
The candidate will work within two programs of the La Crosse County while at MLS, Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) and Child Long-Term Support (CLTS) Waiver.
Within CCS, most participants receiving services are adults with mental health conditions which may create barriers to functioning at their highest level of independence in their home and in the community.
A potential candidate must be able to offer assistance within the following areas of function:
*Connecting participants to resources in their local community. Empowering participants to locate and create social networks to increase confidence.
*Help decrease social anxiety and manage other emotions and/or symptoms by teaching and utilizing coping skills.
*Assisting with or teaching strategies to complete daily living skills, including, but not limited to, money management, shopping, public transportation, household tasks, appointments, medication management, organization and many more!
Within the CLTS Waiver program of the county, the candidate would provide health and wellness services to maintain or improve the health, wellbeing, socialization or inclusion of the participant with their family and peers in the community. Participants in this program range from 4 to 21 years old. The candidate must have experience or knowledge about neurodevelopmental, cognitive and/or mental health conditions, such as, but not limited to, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Anxiety.
A potential candidate must be able to offer assistance within the following areas of function:
*Ability to work with children, adolescents, and teens to support emotional well-being, social awareness, community safety skills and healthy relationships.
*Providing age-appropriate strategies to manage behaviors, emotions and peer relationships.
*Problem-solving to connect youth with leisure interests in home and in the community.
Requirements:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field to Human Services, Psychology etc.
Potential to hire individuals working towards these degrees with life experience
32-40 hours per week, looking for someone that can do two evening shifts to work within the CLTS program in the community (after school). No later than 8 pm.
$32 per hour when face to face with participants, documentation, and drive time.
10% Commission on all billing.
Full time staff recieve 12 days of PTO.
$16 per hour when in office reviewing or preparing for meetings.

Must have a clean background check, and vehicle, and be willing to travel in La Crosse County
