Counseling Job Description Counselor provides solution-focused and evidenced-based cognitive behavioral interventions for clients of varying ages, backgrounds, and presenting problems. Counselor will meet with client for 50 minutes per week and work to improve clients level of development / adjustment / functioning and / or decrease or eliminate behaviors and maladaptive thoughts that may impact healthy functioning in clients life.Responsibilities and DutiesProvide counseling to a varied age range of clients.Use measurement based care to conceptualize cases, formulate diagnoses and establish goals with clients.Provide services based on an individualized treatment plan.Assess and provide diagnosis according to DSM-5 guidelines.Develop a rapport and establish therapeutic alliance with client in order to benefit collaborative processProvide evidence-based practice / interventions.Evaluate and reflect on counseling interventions used with clients; consult with supervisor and Contractor accordingly.Demonstrate competency in the knowledge and skills that are necessary to meet clients psychological and social needs and deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner.Evaluate and determine needs of clients in order to assess if referral to a specialist or higher level of care is needed.Knowledge of community resources in order to refer clients appropriately.Interact professionally and respectfully with clients, families, and staff members.Document each counseling session the day of appointment so payments can be processed.Reduce clients to maintenance appointments when appropriate; plan for termination.Maintain confidentiality at all times.Keep updated on research in the field to aid clients; maintain CEUs as needed.Use a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform (e.g. Doxy.me)Learn and maintain Simple Practice for progress notes, diagnoses, billing, and schedulingMaintain Professional Liability InsuranceMaintain an updated CAQH accountMaintain an NPI numberMarket your services as desired Other duties as assignedQualifications and SkillsLPC, LMFT or LCSW license required.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the job and do not represent that all such duties will be performed by all individual(s) who hold the job.
