Position: Database Architect Engineer (Backend)

Location: Preferred - On-site, Phoenix Arizona ; Remote - Options Available for top U.S.-Based Candidates

Salary: $105k - $130k benefits

Type: W2, Full-Time

Tech Stack: Node.js, MySQL, RESTful APIs, SCRUM/Waterfall methodologies, cloud-based databases, DevOps practices for deployment and database management.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect Engineer (Backend). This role will bridge the gap between our engineering and analytics teams, providing critical expertise to architect, develop, and optimize MySQL databases and backend systems that drive our core platform.

This position is intended for a highly dedicated Backend Engineer with a specialization in Database Architecture, ready to focus exclusively on optimizing backend systems for peak performance, scalability, and reliability in our data-driven applications.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

Backend Development:

• Design and develop RESTful APIs that support the integration of various backend services across the platform.
• Architect and implement efficient and scalable backend systems using Node.js and MySQL.
• Collaborate with key leaders to review and optimize system architecture, ensuring it supports both current and future business needs.
• Ensure backend systems perform optimally with minimal latency, managing interactions between services and databases.
• Work within SCRUM or Waterfall methodologies to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Database Architecture:

• MySQL expertise: Architect, build, optimize, and scale MySQL databases for high performance and availability.
• Lead database design efforts to ensure systems are efficient, scalable, and easy to maintain.
• Develop and utilize techniques such as indexing, stored procedures, and version control for databases to support multiple applications.
• Oversee database architecture for new and existing projects, ensuring speed and maintainability across multiple applications and the platform.
• Perform complex query optimization to maintain system performance at scale.
• Collaborate with engineers to review and refine database schemas and configurations, ensuring data consistency and integrity.

Operations & Optimization:

• Optimize backend processes and APIs to ensure seamless database interaction.
• Develop, maintain, and document backend architecture, providing clear guidelines for future growth and scalability.
• Monitor database performance, detect problems, and recommend optimizations for improvement.
• Develop strategies for backup, recovery, and business continuity to safeguard data.

 REQUIREMENTS

• 5 years of experience in backend development with a focus on database architecture.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and MySQL database management and architecture.
• Proven experience designing, scaling, and optimizing databases in a high-volume environment.
• Deep understanding of database best practices, including indexing, stored procedures, and version control.
• Experience working within SCRUM and Waterfall development methodologies.
• Solid understanding of API-first development and RESTful API design principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must currently be living in the US and can operate in MST working hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with cloud-based databases and infrastructure.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices to streamline deployment and database management processes.
