Job Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Technician I ensures a standard of quality excellence by performing regular inspections and tests on raw materials and finished products, checking for defects and deviations from specifications, and working to identify and correct quality issues.

Essential Functions:
- Reads blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements of products and services
- Uses observation and testing to identify faults in the manufacturing process
- Performs assigned, routine visual inspections and other specified tests on raw materials, work in process, and finished products to ensure that products are manufactured to specifications and delivered to their destination free from damage or defect
- Compares results of inspections and tests to company’s quality standards; reports result(s) to supervisor for final analysis and action steps in case of major deviations/changes and special events impacting products, organizational performance, and commitments to customers
- Monitors and analyzes data to identify trends, root causes of problems, and opportunities for improvement
- Conducts audits and assessments of suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulations
- Participates in internal and external ISO9001-related audits, including but not limited to, re-certification and surveillance audits
- Participates in the investigation of customer complaints and ensures corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence
- Participates in process improvement projects, including Lean and Six Sigma initiatives
- Uses lean manufacturing methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase production and reduce costs
- Applies Kaizen principles to identify areas for continuous improvement and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs and improve efficiency
- Uses 5S methodology to organize and maintain a clean, efficient workplace
- Supports established safety and health standards to keep the organization accident-free
- Collaborates effectively with Production, Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety to achieve operational excellence and ensure alignment with organizational goals

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- High school diploma, technical school education, or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for employment
- Proven experience as a quality control technician or a similar role
- Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
- Good understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Knowledge of OSHA and regulatory requirements
- Excellent mathematical abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with team members and other departments
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in quality control, industrial technology, engineering, or a related field is preferred
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification is a strong advantage
- Utilization of MRP/ERP software and applications such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or Syteline
- Experienced in 5S methodology with demonstrated proficiency in organizing and maintaining a clean, efficient workplace
- Experience in Kaizen principles and practice, including the ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions
- Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 environment
- Experience within the commercial vehicle/automotive industry and understanding its quality control practices and requirements
- Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement preferred
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
Travel Requirements: Less than 5%
