Job Title: Welding Technician II
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports To: Production Manager
Position Type: Full Time
Work Schedule: M-F; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Work Location: Belton, MO
Job Summary:
The Welding Technician II performs advanced welding techniques and fabricates high-quality products by cutting, grinding, and welding using MIG and TIG applications.
The Welding Technician II aligns with Master’s core values of relentlessly pursuing excellence, operating with high integrity, communicating with a positive attitude, and is innovative and solution oriented.
Essential Functions:
- Reads and interprets blueprints, build sheets, travelers, or other paperwork dictating product characteristics
- Performs all welding procedures including machine settings, bottles, and necessary fittings
- Sets up and performs MIG and TIG Welding operations
- Uses a variety of hand tools including pneumatic tools such as die grinders and cutting wheels, electric grinders, pry bars, chisels, clamps, and others
- Fabricates products through cutting, grinding, and welding methods
- Utilizes measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and “string checks” to ensure the product built is within quality tolerances
- Inspects welds for cracks, burn through, and weld spatter
- Grinds and cleans areas where required
- Communicates effectively with team members, other departments, and customers
- Maintains welding machines (tip, liner, changes, etc.) and welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead
- Follows hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures
- Comply with all health and safety programs

Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Welding Certification, completion of a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding experience
- Experience in maintaining Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)/Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG) welding machines
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
- Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and consistent
- Understanding of safety standards and regulations in the automotive industry
- Communication skills to work effectively with team members, other engineers, and customers
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:
- (AWS) American Welding Society Certification or equivalent certification
- Welding experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry preferred
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
Travel Requirements: Less than 5%
