FRONTLINE SUPERVISOR In Training
Position Summary : Under the supervision of the Community Supports Director, the Frontline Supervisor in Training (FLST) will assist, monitor, and develop the skills necessary to supervise the Direct Service Provider Professionals both in a group home setting and in the field. They will provide supervision support to the CS department as they learn to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate community support services that help people live as valued, contributing and self-determined members of their community.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Learn to supervise Direct Service Professionals (DSP)
- Learn and provide direct supports in multiple service settings
- Be a mentor and participate in job shadowing, teaching and training for all Direct Service Professionals.
- Learn to facilitate effective communication among all members of an individual's person-centered care team.
- Learn about program planning, monitoring, and person centered care plans
- Will assist with and be responsible for scheduling and payroll hour tracking related to the staff they are learning to supervise
- Responsible for health and safety of consumers in their care and employees they are learning to supervise
- Coordinate, understand and teach organizational regulations, policies, procedures and other needed rule compliances
- Learn administrative duties in relation to group homes, care plans, and basic supervision practices.
- Learn to monitor all activities within a group home setting including staff reimbursement requests, mileage, time tracking as well as other regulation requirements
HOURS OF WORK : Full time, 40 hours a week. Must be available to work flexible hours, as needed. Some evening, on-call, direct care and weekend work is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Must have a high school diploma, GED, or demonstrate ability to read written instructions and make appropriate documentation.
Experience and Skills : A minimum of two years of customer service experience in retail or a related field is required. A minimum of two years of experience in direct service for individuals with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities, whether in a paid or volunteer capacity, is preferred. Must be 18 years old.
Licensure, Certification, Registrations and pre-hire requirements : Must have the qualifications necessary to be a designee according to state regulations. Trainee will be responsible for providing services in the field in various settings, including but not limited to group home. A current TB test; valid Alaska driver's license; acceptable driving record according to agency standards; proof of state minimum required automobile insurance; clear background history according to the State of Alaska Background Check Program; five verifiable professional / personal references.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Associated or Bachelor's Degree in intellectual / developmental disabilities, special education, psychology, human service or a related field. Credentials from the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals. Past work experience developing plans of care; writing goals and objectives and documenting progress towards meeting goals.
