What are the responsibilities and job description for the HOUSEKEEPER position at Matagorda Regional Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs the duties of maintaining a clean, comfortable, safe, and sanitized environment within the hospital facility by following specific procedures established by the hospital and/or Department director that complies in accordance with the current Federal, State, and Local Standards, Guidelines, and Regulations.
Age Specific Population Served: Neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred but not required.
2. Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar environment
3. Some on the job training will be provided, but adequate knowledge of general cleaning and sanitation practices and procedures are necessary.
4. Good organizational procedures.
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
Demonstrate a professional/courteous demeanor; thoroughly clean and sanitize areas assigned; dust, polish, and vacuum; remove all trash bags from cans, replace with new bags; clean mirrors, porcelain, and chrome; properly and safely operate various equipment and use chemicals; knowledge of all safety procedures and regulations for handling and cleaning areas where Infectious Wastes and/or Materials were spilt and/or kept; demonstrate proficiency in both written and oral communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to ambulate and have full body functional movement with no strain or discomfort. Able to push/pull carts and lift up to 10 pounds comfortably. Positive response to rapid fluctuations in work load. Quick paced and responsive to on the spot situations.
