What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Host position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough has (2) campgrounds and (1) sports fields complex in need of Park Hosts.
Matanuska River Park - is located at mile 17 on the Old Glenn Highway in Palmer, Alaska. This park needs two Park Hosts who will alternate overseeing the tent and RV campground for 3 or 4 days each per week. The Park Hosts will coordinate their schedules to ensure that one host is onsite at all times. Each Park Host must have their own RV as living accommodations. Electricity, water, and sewer are provided. (*Note Friday - Monday coverage required.)
Volunteer Opportunity.
Stipend: Park Hosts receive a $10.00 per day stipend.
Applicants must pass a background check and be at least 18 years of age. They must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs. or at times heavier loads with assistance. The applicant must be outgoing, courteous, and helpful to all park visitors. The applicant must provide their own functional recreational vehicle for living accommodations. Tents are not allowed by the campground host.Duties: Greet visitors and collect fees from campground patrons. Keep trash cans emptied, clean restrooms, replace supplies, keep camping spaces clean after each patron's use, and perform other light duties as needed. Oversee the park to ensure it is clean and safe, and that visitors follow rules. Park must be monitored at all times. Contact authorities if laws are broken and report damage and vandalism to Park Staff promptly. Follow all safety instructions, hazardous materials disposal, etc.

Timetable: Depending on spring weather conditions, we will open between mid May to just before the Memorial Day weekend and we close after the Labor Day weekend.
