What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
This position provides Basic Life Support care and Advanced Life Support care for patients in out-of-hospital environments.

P1 - P5 - DOEAssociate's degree in a course of study directly related to the occupational field.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain appropriate state EMS certification.
Must be able to successfully complete a valid pre-employment drug screen, physical, background check and a pre-employment and annual physical ability test (PAT).
Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.
- Assesses, provides appropriate medical care, and transports sick and/or injured patients in a variety of settings and environments, including residences, businesses, work sites, roadways, etc.
- Ensures appropriate continuum of patient care by communicating patient status and transferring patients to receiving facilities or other entities such as regional hospitals, specialty care centers, medevac providers, etc.
- Operates emergency vehicles and equipment in accordance with accepted safety standards.
- Communicates effectively via radio or direct contact with mutual aid resources and allied health professionals.
- Prepares and submits clear and accurate documentations of all emergency response and patient encounters.
- Maintains all applicable apparatus, equipment, and medical supplies in readiness for emergency response.
- Provides education/training, precepts EMS interns, and participates in mentoring EMS and rescue personnel.
- When staffing the EOC performs the functions assigned by the Event Commander to efficiently and effectively respond and manage an incident.
- Performs related duties.
