What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Maintenance Tech I Jim Creek Recreation Area (Summer Assignment) position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
This position assists in the maintenance of Borough parks, trailheads, and lake accesses.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.
This position is for the Summer Assignment that starts May 1, 2025 through October 30, 2025.E1 - DOEHigh School diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Relevant experience may include customer service skills, janitorial skills, basic organization skills, general labor, ability to multitask, ability to enforce parking and camping fees and the rules/regulations of the area.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.
Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.
- Collects parking fees and/or camping fees, processes credit cards, balances daily receipts and funds, and prepares deposits.
- Cleans restrooms at trailheads; operates a pressure washer; removes graffiti.
- Collects trash at trailheads; reports unauthorized vehicles and vandalism.
- Assists in the building and maintenance of trails.
- Downloads trail data and uploads into database system.
- Removes snow at trailheads.
- Assists the trails maintenance section in meeting project deadlines.
- Makes facility repairs as required.
- Performs related duties.
