We are searching for an experienced Product Manager at our Palmer HQ facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Product Manager oversees a portfolio of MTA products and supports the Director of Product Strategy to drive the vision, strategy, design and execution of their product lines in order to create exceptional customer value, generate competitive advantage and deliver profitability for the company.
Key duties include managing current product offerings, reporting, forecasting, positioning, and pricing. The Product Manager will also develop products by identifying potential opportunities, conducting research, reviewing potential partners and vendors, generating requirements, determining specifications, production timetables, and integrated plans for product launch. This position will work closely, and in cooperation, with others within the department and throughout the company.
SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION
- Determine customer requirements via research, personal interviews, focus groups, surveys, roundtables, etc. and interpret results. Align customer needs with MTA’s strategy and evolving technological and intellectual capabilities.
- Develops implements and maintains product life cycle plan and actual performance, from introduction, growth, maturity, enhancement, and exit or migration when necessary.
- Determines proper positioning of product/product-line in marketplace based on primary and secondary research available.
- Identify technical/engineering development and promotional projects for the product line(s) based on existing and future market demands.
- Recommends and implements pricing strategy, target market, distribution channels, and differentiation strategies based on analytical based demand projections and business cases.
- Establish and maintain budget for product line(s). Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost containment.
- Champion of the product/product-line both internally and externally. Maintains close relationship with research, sales, marketing, regulatory, technical departments and customers during life of product/product-line.
- Works with marketing in the development of all product marketing collateral, including website, digital media, product releases, brochures, advertisements, articles and flyers.
- Works with marketing to establishes product campaigns and sales promotions to include planning, coordinating, communicating, product training, and reporting to/with the appropriate audience.
- Maintain an awareness of competitive and other market forces affecting the product line(s), through effective networking with research and sales team. Provides key competitive information and product comparisons to sales team including tracking competition’s overall performance.
- Present and highlight product line(s) at trade shows and corporate events while raising awareness and preference for the product line(s). Resolve internal and external product line issues by investigating, making recommendations and developing solutions, as required.
- Tracks performance and communicates status of product/product-line as appropriate to manager and executive staff.
- Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related Technical field is highly preferred. Demonstrable accomplishments and experience in direct product cycle management may be substituted in lieu of formal education. 5 years of experience in product management or marketing, or related experience in the technology industry. Expert analytical, organization, prioritization, communication, and presentation skills.
SUPERVISION:
Supervises 0 personnel. Responsible for cross-company support to include, but is not limited to, sales, advertising, billing and engineering, to carry out goals of the respective product/product-line.
EFFECT OF ERROR:
Errors in employee's normal work activity may put the employer at substantial risk. The product management consultant’s efforts will be very visible throughout our company as well as in our marketplace. Correction may require a high level of disruption of normal resource allocations in other departments as well as their own.
JOB SCOPE:
The individual employee is seen performing a multiplicity of functions or professional procedures that go beyond repetitive operations. The tasks assume a greater complexity; they are likely to require creativity and a demonstration of vocational and/or professional initiative. These activities require a working knowledge of the operations of the Sales and Marketing Department.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
Job responsibilities are generally non-routine and may involve issues affecting several departments. Problem solving requires considerable research and analysis. Independent judgments may establish precedent within the Association. This individual will constantly monitor changes in the marketplace, industry products and services and make recommendations based on that research.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposed to moderately unpleasant conditions most of the day, such as pressure due to frequent deadlines and/or frequent confrontations with employees, subscribers or others outside of MTA. Can be routinely exposed to occasional safety hazards and inclement weather. This individual is responsible for meeting critical deadlines in introductions of new products and services. Delays may cause loss of business to competitors. Customer and employee contact is vital to the success of this position.
