PURPOSE
The Director of IT Operations plays a pivotal role in aligning the Credit Union’s technology infrastructure and operations with its broader business strategy. This leader will ensure reliable, secure, and scalable IT services while driving innovation, operational excellence, and strategic technology planning. The role includes advancing API-led connectivity, microservices, and enterprise service bus (ESB) architecture to modernize platforms and enable real-time member experiences. Through strong leadership and vision, the Director fosters a high performing IT culture that empowers teams, enhances member experience, and ensures the Credit Union remains agile and competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for member marketing of the Credit Union and knowledge of all services offered to a degree that will enable answering questions or referring member for specific services.
- Lead modernization efforts through adoption of API-led architecture, microservices, and ESB solutions to streamline integration, reduce legacy dependencies, and support scalable digital delivery.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CIO, contributing to the long-term technology roadmap, digital transformation efforts, and organizational innovation.
- Provide visionary technical leadership and direction to the IT Operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Lead enterprise-wide IT operational strategies, ensuring performance, resilience, and cost-efficiency of infrastructure and services.
- Oversee end-to-end IT service management, ensuring optimal service delivery, incident response, and SLA compliance in alignment with business priorities.
- Establish robust risk management and cybersecurity frameworks, proactively addressing threats and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Partner with business leaders to integrate technology solutions that drive member value, improve operational workflows, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Manage key vendor and partner relationships, negotiating contracts and aligning third-party services with enterprise goals.
- Drive initiatives related to IT governance, policy development, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and lead strategic adoption initiatives that position the Credit Union as a digital-forward organization.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, aligning expenditures with organizational objectives and delivering ROI on technology investments.
- Ensure transparency and accountability through timely reporting of departmental performance, project outcomes, and strategic initiatives to the CIO.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Proven leadership in IT operations, with a track record of driving performance, reliability, and scalability across complex systems and teams.
- Strong strategic planning and project management skills with the ability to align technology initiatives to business goals.

- Familiarity with budgeting, cost optimization, and financial planning for IT investments.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), Microsoft Server environments, networking principles, and enterprise applications.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in an Information Services related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum Experience: 8 years of progressive experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity. Experience within the financial services or credit union industry is highly desirable.
- Personal Characteristics and Skills: Full-time, on-site position. Professional office setting with a collaborative atmosphere. Occasional travel may be required for meetings with members, partners, regulatory agencies and conferences. Availability for occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary during high-priority activities, business events, or special projects. May require prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer, or attending meetings. Minimal physical exertion required but may need to lift items up to 40 pounds.
