Job Title : Senior Information Security Specialist
Location : Remote must be able to work M-F 8 5pm Alaska Time Zone
Duration : 2 Months
Rate : $60 - $65 / hr on W2
Target Start Date : 2 / 5 / 2025
Scope of Duties :
The primary goal of this project is to deliver a formalized cybersecurity Incident Response Plan (IRP). This SOW is scoped as a project with a deliverable. The project will be considered completed when a finalized IRP has been delivered and approved by AWWU's IT division director.
In today's increasingly digital world, the threat of cyber-attacks is ever-present, making a robust Incident Response Plan (IRP) essential for safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining business continuity. This project aims to develop a comprehensive IRP tailored to Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) ensuring rapid and effective response to potential cyber incidents. The project will encompass a thorough risk assessment to identify and prioritize assets, the establishment of clear incident detection and response protocols, and the development of a detailed communication plan. The ultimate goal is to enhance AWWU's resilience against cyber threats and ensure swift recovery with minimal impact on operations.
Responsibilities :
- Protect systems by defining access privileges and control structures.
- Review security logs and recognize problems by identifying abnormalities and reporting violations.
- Implement security improvements by assessing current infrastructure, evaluating trends, anticipating requirements.
- Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security controls.
- Prepare performance reports, communicate system status.
- Design, test and implement security systems.
- Provide information on current security threats and design countermeasures.
- Coordinate with both internal and external entities
- Review security policies and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop security policies based on specific needs identified by the organization or regulatory entity
