We operate two schools : Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, and The Match High School and Career Center, which currently serves 9th grade students and will expand to include 9th and 10th grade students in the fall of 2025.

We are currently seeking an ELA Teacher to join our Middle School Team at Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Position Overview
The ELA Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate curriculum to a diverse group of students. The ELA Teacher will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love of learning, critical thinking, and academic growth. The ideal candidate will be committed to the success of each student and work collaboratively with other staff members, parents, and administrators to support student development.
Key Responsibilities
These are the key responsibilities of an ELA Teacher. ELA Teachers may have other duties as assigned.
- Instruction and Curriculum Delivery : Plan and deliver daily lessons that align with state standards. Incorporate varied teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Classroom Management : Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning. Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure a respectful and focused atmosphere.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring : Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal assessments, track individual student growth, and adjust instruction as needed. Provide feedback to students and parents on academic progress.
- Collaboration and Communication : Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, specialists, and administrators to ensure that students are supported in all areas of their development. Maintain open communication with parents through conferences, ParentSquare, and other forms of communication.
- Professional Development : Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education. Attend faculty meetings, workshops, and school events to contribute to the school's mission and culture.
- Student Support : Provide individualized or small-group instruction to students who need extra help. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of students, including those with learning challenges or advanced abilities.
