Description:
The Grade 40 Machinist in the Blank department at Mate Precision Technologies will set up and operate various types of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers, and qualification of the parts produced in the Blank/PDS department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Sets up and works on machines of moderate complexity and difficulty.
Inspects work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
Meets expectations for productivity and quality and strives for continuous improvement.
May train others, troubleshoot, or work with support groups as needed.
Participates in continuous improvement practices such as 5S, Kaizen events, value stream mapping or other improvement projects or teams.
Works to achieve work center guideline certification.
Follows guidelines established for work scheduling and understands delivery objectives.
Reports any machine or process problems.
Promotes a safe working environment and follows safety guidelines.
Promotes quality at the source to minimize waste.
Will work with the following tools: Micrometers to 6 inches, pliers, screwdrivers, and wrenches. Dial or digital caliper, .0005 indicator and magnetic base, and other tools as required by the specific machines or jobs being run by the employee.

Requirements:- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A two-year technical college degree or equivalent is required.
- Experience working with computers and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, products, and processes.
- Basic understanding of the machines and basic programming features.
- Ability to adapt when things change.
- Experience with inspection devices.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal.
- Experience with reading prints.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
- Good understanding of mathematical concepts and terms.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Occasional bending and stooping.
- Use of hand to finger.
- Lift, move and pull up to 35 pounds.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Noise level is moderate.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
Pay, Work Schedule, & Benefits:
- Pay Range: $29.17 - $32.16/hour, depending on experience.
- Scheduled Work Hours: Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
