What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Associate position at Materials & Chemistry Laboratory, Inc.?
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is to perform quality control functions under the leadership of the Quality Manager.
Essential Functions
· Assist the Quality Manager in daily assigned tasks
· Lead quality control review of sample results
· Participate in third-party assessments/audits.
· Complete Documentation of competency report for laboratory staff for each method qualified.
· Learn laboratory procedures and the regulatory methods they are based on
· Assist the Quality Manager in audit report responses
· Prepare and investigate non-conformances and initiate corrective actions
Review and understand the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, DOECAP Quality Systems Manual and AIHA Policies
Additional Functions
· Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours
· Perform other duties as required
Minimum Training & Qualifications
- B.S in a scientific discipline (chemistry preferred) or
- At least 3 years of direct work experience in a scientific environment (regulated setting preferred).
- An equivalent combination of related education and required work experience will be considered.
Specialized Knowledge
- ICP, GC, CVAA, IC, TEM, SEM, PLM, PCM knowledge preferred.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Excel and capable of learning new software packages.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use a computer to write reports and verify calculations.
- Ability to comprehend and apply applicable government regulations (i.e. ISO 17025, ILAC, DOECAP, AIHA, DOECAP)
- Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to interact with scientific staff at all levels.
- This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
