Position Overview : The Director of Accounting is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health of MSC, driving operational efficiency, and supporting long-term business objectives. This position requires deep expertise in general ledger reconciliations, journal entry processing, and accounts payable / receivable (AP / AR) management. The Director of Finance will be supported by an AP / AR Specialist and will collaborate closely with the VP of Contracts to ensure financial alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Financial Leadership :
Provide visionary financial leadership to the finance team, ensuring alignment with MSC's mission and growth objectives.
Lead the monthly and annual budgeting processes, including financial forecasting, variance analysis, and performance tracking.
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and contract regulatory requirements.
Conduct in-depth analysis of production costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to all regulations, including those relevant to manufacturing and DoD / government contracts.
Manage capital planning and investment evaluations, including ROI analysis for potential projects.
Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
Partner with the VP of Contracts and other key departments, including operations and business development, to support business initiatives and improve financial performance.
Lead AP and AR processes, ensuring timely posting of transactions and effective management of cash flow.
Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with a strong background in manufacturing environments and DoD / government contracts.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in financial modeling and data analysis.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
