MATHCOUNTS, the nation’s premier nonprofit dedicated to middle school mathematics, is seeking a District Engagement Manager to help us deliver on our vital mission of inspiring excellence, confidence and curiosity in US middle school students through fun and challenging math programs. The District Engagement Manager is a skilled collaborator and communicator who will carry out a variety of duties to support our programs, manage strategic partnerships and help us make the case to district leaders that their schools would benefit from MATHCOUNTS. A background in STEM is not required, but a desire to improve attitudes about math for middle school students is essential.

Essential responsibilities include :
- Analyze data to identify recruitment opportunities and districts of focus for each quarter.
- Develop and implement plans to communicate regularly with district leaders and manage key stakeholders, including tracking engagements and results to modify approach, as needed.
- Attend, participate in and / or present at meetings and events (both virtual and in-person) with school / district leaders and other key partners.
- Create digital and printed marketing pieces for district engagement, including webpages, postcards, informational flyers and impact reports.
- Coordinate with volunteers who plan local MATHCOUNTS competitions to connect them to potential schools and help support their efforts to engage with new schools / districts.
- Manage the DoD STEM Ambassador initiative, including supporting past and current program ambassadors, reviewing applications and communicating with applicants / staff.
- Collaborate with non-district strategic partners to provide new resources and recognition for participants and educators and recruit new schools to MATHCOUNTS.
- Local travel may be required to meet with leaders in nearby districts. Travel outside the DC-MD-VA area may be required (up to 4 times during the year) for events or major meetings, including the 5-day National Competition event, which takes place each May.

This position is a hybrid position, with a minimum of 2 days of in-office work per week at our headquarters (with some flexibility on which days). Our office is located in Old Town, Alexandria, just a 5-minute walk from the King Street metro station, and close to multiple bus routes, including the Old Town Circulator and Metroway.
