Job Summary
The MAA Publications Editorial Assistant will provide key administrative and logistical support to several editorial teams. Work will primarily focus on administrative duties to the peer-review process, preparation and publication of both the peer-reviewed publications and non-peer reviewed publications including but not limited to The American Mathematical Monthly, Mathematics Magazine, Math Horizons, Convergence, Scatterplot, College Math Journal, Math Values, MAA Reviews, and MAA Focus. Reporting to the Publications Operations Manager for MAA Journals, the Publications Editorial Assistant will assist in the preparation of documents needed to fulfill the mission of the MAA Publications Program.
Job Responsibilities

- Assist with the submission management databases. (Submittable, Editorial Manager, and ScholarOne)
- Assist with answering simple author and reviewer questions and checking joint email addresses in conjunction with editors.
- Assisting with manuscript management and administrative tasks.
- Performs data curation and retrieval of publications database
- Communicate with team members to ensure consistency across the MAA portfolio.
- Enforce established MAA publications style guidelines.
- Schedule and attend meetings related to the publication process.
- Manage the editorial calendar to ensure publication dates are met.
- Other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities, education, training and/or work experience listed here.
Education
- Undergraduate baccalaureate with a degree focus in English, Technical Writing, Professional Communication, Publications, or closely related field
Experience
- 6 months experience with Adobe InDesign or related coursework at the university level
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or similar vector graphic editing software (e.g. CorelDraw) preferred
- Knowledge of LaTeX Preferred

- Is proficient in the use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.

- Exhibits strong organizational skills.
