What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietitian position at Mather Headquarters?
Mather is an award-winning leader in the rapidly growing senior living industry, with services spanning from luxury senior living residences to community-based services and an in-house research team. Mather's HQ Restaurant Operations team is seeking a Dietitian to support our team of community-based chefs, restaurant managers and Certified Dietary Managers in their role of providing Nextraordinary dietary and nutrition care to residents in our communities consistent with Mather’s mission. In conjunction with the culinary, restaurant and clinical team at each community ensures that policies and procedures are in place to support regulatory compliance.
The Dietitian role is based out of Mather's HQ office in Evanston, Illinois; and will travel to support Mather luxury senior living communities in Illinois, Arizona, and Virginia.
Essential Functions:
- Provides organizational level guidance and support for culinary nutrition throughout our overall culinary program
- Develops and supports nutrition-based programming and activities to support our overall wellness initiatives
- Collaborates with Executive Chef on menus, offering suggestions for healthier approaches to ingredients or preparation in all restaurant settings
- Supports the day-to-day functions of our CDM/s by providing expert level experience and knowledge of all local, state, and federal regulations for nutrition in a long-term care operation
- Reviews and approves all menus for licensed areas of the community
- Provides guidance, education, and training to team members regarding nutrition, allergens, therapeutic diets, IDDS and healthy ingredients
- Offers fee-based one-on-one virtual nutritional counseling to independent living residents
- Completes quarterly audits of all licensed food service areas for compliance with CMS requirements, shares findings with community leadership and HQ culinary leadership. Makes recommendations on how to improve readiness
- Responsible for the administration of culinary related policies, procedures and protocols across the continuum
- Develops a consistent approach to emergency food programs at each community and provides direction to community teams on how to monitor and maintain the program
- Leads QAPI related culinary measurements and corrective actions
- Identify opportunities for improvement through observations, analysis of data and consultation with team members and leaders
- Advises AVP and Director, Restaurant Operations on nutritional and clinical needs
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or Dietetics
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) Certification
- Licensed or the ability to get licensed in required jurisdictions.
- 5 years’ experience, preferably in a long-term care setting
- Proven history in problem solving, communication with older adult residents and their families, team members and peers.
- Work independently to formulate appropriate judgement in organizing and completing duties and responsibilities.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, nutritional analysis, and electronic medical records systems.
