Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to serve as a House Parent in our residential facility. As a House Parent, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals under your care. This position is ideal for individuals with a genuine passion for providing guidance, mentorship, and structure to those in need.
Responsibilities-
1. Provide Emotional Support
- Foster caring and supportive atmosphere for residents, creating a sense of safety and trust.
- Act as a member and role model, offering emotional support and encouragement.
2. Daily Care and Supervision
- Oversee daily routine, including meals, chores, and recreational activities.
- Ensure the the physical and emotional well-being of residents through regular check-ins and communication.
3. Implement Rules and Structure
- Enforce and uphold established rules and guidelines within the residential setting.
- Foster a structured and disciplined environment while promoting independence and responsibility.
4. Collaborate with Staff
- Work closely with other House Parents, Staff Members, and Professionals to coordinate care plans.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practice and relevant updates.
5. Communication
- Maintain open and effective communication with residents, their families, and external stakeholders.
- Document and report any significant changes, incidents, or observations regarding resident's behavior and well-being.
6. Crisis Management
- Be prepared to handle cries calmly and effectively, following established protocols.
- Provide support and guidance to residents during challenging situations
7. Promote Life Skills Development.
- Encourage the development of life skills such as budgeting, time management, and self-care.
- Support residents in setting and achieving personal goals.
8. Maintain a Safe and Clean Environment
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the residential space.
- Address maintenance issues promptly and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications-
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in social work, counseling, or related fields are advantageous.
- Previous experience working with youth, vulnerable population, or in a residential setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of team.
- Understanding of trauma- informed care and the unique needs of individuals in residential setting.
Working Conditions-
This position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. The House Parent will be expected to reside on-site or in close proximity to the residential facility.
