Salary : $23.00 to $31.56 per hour
Mathiesen Memorial Health Clinic is a non-profit Tribal Federally Qualified Health Center owned by the Chicken Ranch Rancheria band of the Me-Wuk Indians. We are nestled in the picturesque Sierra Nevada foothills and just 60 minutes from Yosemite National Park. MMHC is a rapidly growing medical team specializing in primary care, dermatology, gastroenterology and hepatology, behavioral health, addiction treatment, acupuncture, and dentistry. Position Summary
The Medical Scribe transcribes verbal and written notes from physicians, practitioners, and nurses into readable documents for medical records. You must be familiar with medical terminology and have excellent listening and data-entry skills. Preference will be given to Medical Assistants.
Essential Duties
Transcribes notes from the practitioner during patient visits.
Documents all information into the electronic health record system
Communicates with patients and practitioners professionally.
Documents information from medical examinations.
Completes various administrative duties.
Proofreads medical records for inaccuracies.
Other duties as assigned.
Adheres to MMHC confidentially policy and HIPAA laws.
Maintains infection control standards / universal precautions.
Follows and adheres to the Employee Handbook and MMHC policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent.
At least two years of experience as a scribe OR completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
Certification from The American College of Medical Scribe Specialists (ACMSS) is preferred but may be obtained within the first year of hire for Medical Assistants.
Accurately type a minimum of 60 words per minute.
Current CPR certificate for Medical Assistants.
Electronic medical record system experience preferred.
Excellent listening and communication skills.
Familiar with medical terminology.
Knowledge of various clerical tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, providers, and staff.
Demonstrate professional behavior, attire, and appearance.
Ability to multitask and work independently despite interruptions.
Good interpersonal relationship and customer service skills.
Ability to flex with changing work duties.
Physical requirements
Bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching above and below shoulder.
Handling / grasping documents or office equipment.
Sitting or standing for short or extended periods.
Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in person or on the telephone.
Vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, with or without corrective lenses.
Repetitive motions with computer equipment use.
Working conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment using standard equipment with moderate background noise. It is a daytime shift only, Monday through Friday. Most of the day is spent viewing a computer monitor. The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the job's essential duties.
