What are the responsibilities and job description for the Band Director position at Mathis ISD?
Primary Purpose:
Director of Band shall direct the instructional program for all band students and coordinate band activities for both High School and Middle School campuses.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Current Texas Teacher Certificate-All Level or Secondary Music Education
Minimum of three(3) years of public school music teaching experience or equivalent related music experience
Special Knowledge Skills & Experience:
- Percussion Specialist with emphasis on Winter Drum Line, Indoor Drum Line
- Ability to coordinate a Marching Fundamental Block
- Ability to prepare a Concert Band for UIL Participation
- Ability to coordinate Electronics/Computer for Marching Band Presentations
- Ability to maintain accurate band inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operationof all activities
- Ability to coordinate the efforts of the band booster organization
- Ability to prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA/ATSSB/TAME/TECA/WGI sponsored events
- Ability to coordinate the instructional process for band students in Concert Band/
- Music Theory, Music Appreciation
- Ability to coordinate the instructional process for band students in Mariachi
- Ability to actively coordinate campus band activities with campus programs, staff, and community
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Proficient skills in word processing, filing, Microsoft Word, Excel, and office machines
- Effective organizational, communication, and Interpersonal skills
