Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Summary:
Under medical supervision, assists physicians in the delivery of health care services; and performs related duties as required while providing excellent care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
1. Identify patient’s chief complaint and records pertinent information in patient’s permanent medical record.
2. Communicates to physician abnormal findings.
3. Assists patients to complete medical history forms and prepares patients for examination and treatment by physician.
4. Documents all phone calls with patients.
5. Performs vital signs, measurements as height and weight and records them in the EMR-eClinicalworks
6. Conducts tests and procedures as directed, such as EKG’s, spirometer, venipuncture, strep screen, glucometer, and urine tests.
7. Assists health service providers with treatments and examinations of patients such as injections, wound care, pelvic exams and minor surgery with the health service provider.
8. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and stocks patient rooms and labs with appropriate supplies.
9. Maintains medical supply inventory.
10. Transcribes doctors’ orders and prepares appropriate requisitions, forms as needed
11. Performs calls to pharmacy and follow-up pharmacy messages daily.
12. Notifies patient of any change ordered by the physician.
13. Ensures Physician signs charts, labs, prescriptions, diagnostics daily.
14. Maintains patient flow after check in. Discuss patient flow with physician according to urgency and daily patient load.
15. Performs triage on patient.
16. Ability to assist more than one physician at a time.
17. Proficient in Medical Terminology
18.Complies with office policy and procedure, OSHA Standards and HIPAA Privacy Regulations as stated in HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State of Florida, or one year experience working in a health care setting that included direct patient contract or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge and abilities.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required
- Experience with eClinicalworks is preferred but not required
