Under the direction of the foreperson, laborers work on road crews, asphalt plants, or maintenance shops. Key responsibilities include job layout, shoveling, raking, sweeping, and traffic control. On-the-job training provides knowledge and skills to become a productive crew member with potential for advancement to equipment operator positions.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and have reliable transportation. Previous construction or physical job experience is preferred. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), if required, and physically fit to stand, squat, bend, lift, and walk for long durations in various weather conditions.
