Position Title: Machine Operator
Location: El Cajon, CA
Description: Our CNC Machine Operator supports Mativ's operations of a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts from the raw material stage to finished good ensuring customer specifications are met. This individual will run Haas CNC mills for a wide variety of materials including various plastics and metals with both large and small quantity runs.The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently and verify the quality of their work with the use of traditional inspection equipment.The shift schedule is 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.
responsibilities:
- Follow all company established methods, policies, rules, practices, and procedures to ensure employee safety, product quality and efficient operations.
- Develop, monitor and maintain production reports.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Observe and listen to machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine need for adjustments.
- Maintain and lubricate machines and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
- Read measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, height gage, bore gage and groove micrometers, and measure and inspect parts.
- Maintain a clean area and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- To qualify for employment at Mativ, candidates will need to complete a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen (post offer acceptance).
qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or GED and 3 years related experience or a combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating CNC Machines
- Ability to measure parts and determine if drawing specs have been met
- Good math skills with analytical abilities
- Strong reading skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- High attention to detail
- Regularly required to use hands and stand for long periods of time.
- Lifting and moving up to 50lbs
- Attention to detail.
- CNC machine skills
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Communication skills

Position Demands
Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment:
- Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot.
- Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors.
- May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards.
- Moderate noise levels
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts
Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including:
- Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
- Safety Glasses
- Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks
- Hearing Protection, when required
- Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks.
While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands:
- Be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
- Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
- Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
