Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Product Development to lead and expand our product division. This role involves overseeing the development and management of Matrix's Product group and the oversight of product lines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building a highly functional product team that is process-driven and focuses on building value for our customers. The candidate will have a strong background in product management, a deep understanding of technology trends, and a proven track record of bringing innovative products to the market. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN.
This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the VP of Product and Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive product strategy aligned with Matrix Design Group's mission and market demands.
- Identify and prioritize new product opportunities, ensuring a balanced portfolio that drives growth and innovation
- Conduct and evaluate thorough market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape and engage with the commercial team to assist in business model development.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the company product roadmap.
- Effectively prioritize engineering development efforts based on product roadmap and customer and business needs.
- Drive innovation by exploring and integrating emerging embedded technologies, artificial intelligence, and real-world analytics, into product offerings.
- Team Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing product management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support to achieve individual and collective goals.
- Product Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch evaluation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, customer success, field service, and sales, to ensure successful product development and market introduction.
- Utilize insights to inform product development and positioning strategies.
- Innovation and R&D:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the company product roadmap
- Effectively prioritize engineering development efforts based on product roadmap and customer and business needs.
- Drive innovation by exploring and integrating emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and real-world analytics, into product offerings.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in developing and launching technology products, preferably in industrial or mining sectors.
- Strong understanding of product development processes, market analysis, and strategic planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically while managing operational details.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams in a dynamic environment.
Working Conditions:
- The working conditions will be in a climate-controlled office environment. The noise levels most times are nominal.
