What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controls Analyst position at Matrix PDM Engineering?
Job Summary
The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for implementing systems, analytical tools and methods to monitor status of projects, performing planning and scheduling for proposals and successful projects, which require the selection and application of earned value principles, techniques and technical knowledge of industrial projects.
The preferred location for this role is Tulsa, OK, but there is the potential to hire at one of our other Matrix PDM Engineering office locations including: Houston, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.
Essential Functions
- Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.

- Assists the project manager in developing the project schedules, resource curve analysis and presentation information.
- Tracks and maintains detailed budget with earned value system.
- Utilizes analytical systems, methods, and tools to monitor the project and completes weekly and monthly progress reports to management and/or customer as needed.
- Works with the project manager on change orders based on analysis of the reports and identification of potential problem areas.
- Answers questions from the project manager and senior management as a result of project analysis and status reporting. Brings critical issues to the immediate attention of appropriate management personnel.
- Supports supervision through preparation, updating, and maintenance of forecasts and schedules.
- Develops and tracks detailed engineering, procurement, and construction schedules with construction management. Integrates and assembles data from a variety of sources, including A/E, customer engineering, other contractors, etc.
- Develops and executes project controls execution and reporting plan for project working with project manager and project engineer.
- Manages and owns the schedule and milestones for deliverables.
- Conducts manpower forecast reviews.
- Develops forecast at completion (EAC) based on current expenditures, commitments, and trends against the project.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- 3-5 years of related project controls experience within the construction/engineering industry.
- Construction/Engineering planning and scheduling experience as well as cost control experience/exposure strongly preferred.
- Experience with Primavera (P6) planning software preferred.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
- Proficiency in the use of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Working knowledge of and ability to select and apply resource monitoring and control techniques, such as CPM computer scheduling techniques, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of earned value techniques.
- Good interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Job may require periodic travel to job sites.
