Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Oversight Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and sometimes performing visual, in-process and final inspections at Supplier’s premises in support of multiple EPC projects to verify product integrity and conformance prior to delivery. This position reports directly to the Manager of Supplier Quality, with dotted line responsibility to the EPC Project Manager and the Project Quality Manager and daily collaboration with the Project Supply Chain Manager.
Essential Functions
- Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”

- Demonstrates understanding of the Purchase Order (PO), specifications, drawings, correspondence, and any other technical aspects of the Inspection Assignment Package.
- Maintains awareness of PO status and attachments, including specifications, change orders, correspondence, etc. Receives and understands technical clarifications issued by Matrix or Supplier and communicates the resolution requirements for verification and closure.
- Fosters relationships and establishes rapport with Suppliers, as well as attends and / or conducts pre-fabrication meetings as required.
- Performs daily maintenance of the planned and completed inspections log. Updates quality metrics and statistics based on supplier quality performance.
- Manages third-party inspection agencies in their supply of inspectors for shop visits.
- Reviews and follows Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) to plan supplier shop inspections for Witness and Hold points. Manages third parties, and occasionally self-performs, inspection activities per Matrix ITP and / or in conjunction with Supplier’s ITP. Reviews Supplier paperwork, verifying material pass / fail criteria against engineering inspection requirements. Prepares and issues inspection reports.
- Reviews and files third-party inspection reports.
- Reviews supplier quality deliverables required as part of the procurement.
- Advises procurement and engineering on supplier performance and risks identified during the quality lifecycle.
- Manages supplier punch lists and communicates punch list items to field.
- Issues Quality Release when material, equipment, or fabricated items are acceptable, released and ready for shipment to site / project.
- Communicates supplier quality performance to procurement and project management team.
- Issues Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for non-conforming work, materials, parts or processes. Engages engineering and construction teams closely for Nonconformance dispositions.
- Performs audits and / or surveillances of Supplier’s quality program to ensure it is being implemented.
- Performs review of Manufacturer’s test and inspection documentation during all phases of in-process and final inspections. Ensures all documents reviewed are contained in the Manufacturer’s Data Book.
- Plans travel and inspection visits in accordance with the order inspection requirements, within the constraints of the established budget. Reports on costs expended and seeks approval of any additional budget that may be justified as a risk mitigation in critical procurements.
- Responsible and accountable to promote, maintain and ensure safety and a safe work environment. Reports unsafe acts or other safety issues.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
