Role summary:

This role is primarily responsible for the execution and data analysis of projects related to Food Microbiology and Safety with additional support for routine testing and data review as required. 

What you’ll do:

• Execute on lab activities associated with assigned Research projects, including:
  1. Media preparation and sample preparation (inoculating, plating, or otherwise manipulating samples).
  2. Execution of testing protocols according to plan, including operation of conventional microbiology laboratory equipment and generating results. 
  3. Data analysis: including basic statistics and graphing in Excel.
• Support project scheduling based on provided plan and proposals.
• Identify, document, communicate and respond to any non-conformities with instrumentation, samples and methodologies or deviations from plan or policy, relaying updates to appropriate senior management.  
• Support and perform troubleshooting activities, assessment of root cause and corrective actions.  
• Process routine and non-routine tests for routine microbiology analysis when required. 
• Draft result reports for review when required. 
• Follow written Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Other duties may be assigned to assist with the operations of the lab.
• Participate in review and revision of applicable Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.  
• Monitor supply levels and order consumables as needed for projects.
• Support and comply with all Company policies, Quality Systems & Health and Safety policies.  

What you’ll have:

• Bachelor’s degree with 4 year relevant experience or Master’s degree in an applicable field.
• Knowledge of microbiological test methodologies
• Work experience with project planning
• Ability to distinguish colors as required for Microbiology testing.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
• Positive outlook with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
