Full Job Description
Treston Security Services provides security training for Veterans Stand Together which is a non-profit company that provides vocational training to the veteran community. We are looking for security instructors for the subjects below, so the veterans that attend will be fully certified to enter the security industry. An emphasis on mentorship and developing others are strong characteristics that are sought out for this position.
POSITIONS OVERVIEW:
BSIS Security Instructor
$25 hour D.O.E.
Additional Certifications preferred but not required:
BSIS Certified Firearms Instructor
BSIS Certified Baton Instructor
AHA Certified CPR / First Aid Instructor
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable for teaching classes as required within assigned BSIS and/or AHA curriculum
- Accountable to maintain excellent communication with event venue hosts and firearms ranges (Firearms instructor only)
- Accountable for presenting sponsored products in a positive and informative manner
- Accountable for adhering to the highest standards of safety in the classroom and in live fire (when applicable)
- Accountable for assisting the career services representative to help students find gainful employment
- Accountable for safe keeping, set-up, tear down, and storage of classroom digital video, computer equipment and ranges
- Accountable for managing unforeseen issues and setbacks with class venues or gun ranges; employing a commitment to minimize the effects of failure (regardless of fault) through resilience and decisiveness
- A demonstrated ability to lead and motivate administrative staff effectively. A history of successful teamwork
- Develop and conduct required training programs for new hires and current employees
- Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for program effectiveness
- Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills
- Develop remedial/alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen
- Organize and develop, or obtain, training procedure manuals and course materials such as handouts and visual materials
- Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures
- Prepare and evaluate training materials such as outlines, text, or handouts
- Conducts quality assurance inspections at firearms training events (Firearms instructor only)
- Provides instruction to new hires and current employees as required to maintain and improve marksmanship skills (Firearms instructor only)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written and oral presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Must be an U.S. Citizen and read, write, and speak English Trainers must have background with a minimum of two (2) years of training experience in civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement or commercial/industrial security force service
- Must have intermediate skilled in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to speak in front of large groups of people
- Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Must be a US citizen
- Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of applicable experience
- Ability to travel as required within assigned region
- Experience with excellent public communication and/or teaching skills
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and operating laptops.
- Familiar with numerous firearm models
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening; position is also subject to random drug screening throughout the course of employment
- Competency to conduct Zoom classes and navigate through the Zoom software to possibly help students should issues arise
Education and requirements:
- Minimum 3 years field experience training in Security field, Law Enforcement, Military, or government contracts
- BSIS firearm License (preferred)
- BSIS Baton License (preferred)
- Chemical agent certification
- Defensive Tactics certification
- CPR/First Aid instructor certification
- De-escalation techniques
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk-up inclines and on uneven terrain.
- Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract
- Travel may be required

Pay: Based on experience (from $25/hour and up)
Experience:
- Security Experience: 5 years (Preferred)
- Teaching Experience: 3 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BSIS Security Guard License
- AHA CPR / First Aid Certification (Preferred)
