OVERVIEW
Join our team as a Cost Estimator!
As a Cost Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects. This includes preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for multi-discipline and single-discipline engineering projects, ensuring profitability, and supporting the project management team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in a safe manner always. Adheres to both Matrix and Client established safety standards when appropriate.
- Follows procedures as detailed in the Matrix Operations Manual (MOM) and in the Quality Systems (QS) documents.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and timelines for projects.
- Review project specifications, proposals, and drawings to determine project requirements.
- Assists in generating EPC (Engineering, procure, construct) proposals and other proposals as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project objectives.
- Identify and evaluate project risks and incorporate contingencies into cost estimates.
- Monitor project budgets and adjust cost estimates as needed.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and internal teams.
- Support project documentation, contract reviews, and client correspondence.
- Participates in professional organizations and societies related to EPC, cost estimating, and engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, including 5 years in construction or engineering roles (PE and/or PMP preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and project management tools, specifically one or more cost estimating software packages: Pro-Est, Icarus (Aspen Capital Cost Estimator), and RS Means.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- Familiar with Bluebeam and CAD software

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Local travel or travel to alternate work sites may be required to support Matrix clients and projects
- Domestic overnight travel may be required to support Matrix clients and projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
- This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to a wide range of known food allergens.

We offer market-competitive compensation for a Cost Estimator base range of $61,000 to $121,000 annually, and a total compensation package that includes quarterly bonuses, 401(k) matching, and overtime pay. Salaries are based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
