What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - Tool Room position at Matrix Tool Inc.?
Matrix Tool, Inc. is a custom full-service manufacturing operation located in Fairview, PA. We specialize in the design and construction of high precision plastic and metal injection molds and the molding of tight tolerance plastic injection molded components. We operate in a modern, state of the art facility and employ technical staff members capable of offering solutions to our customer’s toughest tooling and molding challenges.
Our current Maintenance Technician will be retiring and we are seeking an experienced 1st Shift Maintenance Technician to train and take over the coordination of troubleshooting, maintenance and repair activities associated with the production & support equipment in our Tooling Division. Primary duties of the position include:
(a) Coordinating preventive maintenance tasks on production & support equipment (mills, surface grinders, dust collectors, EDM machines, etc.) to keep equipment in safe and proper working order.
(b) Completing troubleshooting / problem solving activities related to malfunctioning machines and support equipment.
(c) Coordinating unscheduled equipment maintenance and repair activities on Tool Room machinery and related support equipment to minimize downtime, including working with OEM technical staff and local vendors as needed to get equipment back on-line.
(d) Assisting with the sourcing and installation of new Tooling production and support equipment, including interfacing with OEM technical staff and local support vendors (electricians, automation technicians, etc.) to coordinate installation and debug tasks.
(e) Maintaining a basic inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment spare parts as needed to ensure timely and cost-effective equipment maintenance and repairs.
(f) Coordinating facility-related PM on assigned equipment / systems (lighting, compressed air systems, HVAC, etc.).
Preferred qualifications include:
1. High school diploma and at least 2 years maintenance experience in a Tooling / machine shop, Injection Molding environment or equivalent.
2. Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting & repairing Tool Room machinery & related support equipment.
3. Practical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic principles related to equipment commonly used in a Tooling / machine shop environment.
4. Practical experience in the following areas is preferred: forklift use; basic machine shop / maintenance equipment use (mills, saws, hand tools, etc.); welding/brazing;
5. Ability to cooperate with others and work as a member of a team
6. Ability to read machine schematics / wiring diagrams and blue prints
7. Basic competency using hand tools, special tools such as ohmmeters, ammeters, welder, etc. and personal computer.
