Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre-Op /Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to patients prior to surgery and recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to assess patient needs, and a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort during recovery.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify any complications or concerns that may arise after anesthesia.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) therapy.
- Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide health coaching and education to patients regarding post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions accurately in medical records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Stay current with medical terminology, procedures, and best practices in critical care nursing.
Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledgeable in medical imaging processes relevant to post-operative care.
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing or urgent care settings is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and safety measures.
- Familiarity with ambulatory surgery center operations with orthopedic cases is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor during emergencies.
