About the Role

The Yard Supervisor - Fairbanks position is responsible for supervising the operations and administrative activities in the Fairbanks facility managing and monitoring equipment, loads, and deliveries for our railbelt and oil & gas customers. This position works closely with our customers and third-party service providers to ensure delivery of freight is completed in the expected timeline. Must be able to resolve issues or customer concerns.

What you’ll do:

• Supervise the activities related to the yard, load movements, equipment management, and dispatch functions with our agents.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by tracking loads and ensure timely delivery.
• Monitor and tracking of equipment and containers moving to and from the Fairbanks facility.
• Coordinate load movements with designated deliver agents and ensure all loads and equipment to and from the location are monitored and accounted for.
• Ensure safety standards are maintained to protect people, cargo, and property, i.e. equipment operations and hazardous materials.
• Conduct daily yard audits and provide daily updates on load movements, both deliveries and pickups, going to and from the North Slope.
• Ensure proper and productive communication with agents, oil & gas, railbelt, and other departments and terminals as needed.
• Must be flexible to work and support the operation to include working holidays and weekends as needed.
• Understand workflows and utilize company computer systems to ensure accurate information is obtained.

And these qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Logistics or other related fields such as Business Management.
• Previous experience in the transportation industry.
• Experience with prioritizing and coordinating people, equipment, and customer requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Aptitude to learn and be proficient with internal systems.
• Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license.

Extra credit if you have:

• Two years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.
• Experience in developing, preparing, and managing a budget is preferred.
• Experience with union contracts is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 20 lbs.
• Work environment is occasionally outside in all types of weather and the noise level is moderate depending on the type of work being performed.
