About Matt's Building Materials: We are a family-owned lumberyard and home improvement center in the RGV. We are determined to provide our customers with top-tier building materials at competitive prices. We are looking for new faces to join our growing team.
Job Description: We are looking to hire a sales associates at our new store in Harlingen. As a Sales associate you would help customers find the product that they are looking for, answer any questions they may have, as well as maintain your department (stock shelves, keep it cleaned/organized).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting and guiding customers in finding products in your department.
- Answer customer inquiries and provide information about products, prices, and promotions.
- Process customer transactions accurately using the store's point-of-sale system.
- Restock shelves and ensure products are neatly arranged and well-displayed.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the store.
- Offer product recommendations based on customer needs and preferences.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and seek resolutions.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and maintain a positive work environment.
Schedule: This is a full-time position (40-50 hours a week). We have two shifts that you would need to be available for (morning shift 7:00am – 5:00pm or afternoon shift 8:00am – 6:00pm).

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Saturdays as needed
Physical Requirements: Our inside sales positions require moderate physical exertion. You will be on your feet most of the day while you assist customers, and you would also be responsible for stocking shelves with products that can weigh more than 50-lbs.
Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for candidates that have previous retail sales experience. No experience with hardware, building materials, or home improvement is necessary, but it is a plus.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual – Need to be able to communicate clearly in Spanish & English.
- Customer-centric attitude with a passion for providing exceptional service.
- Attention to detail and ability to accurately match products with order receipts.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and stand for extended periods.
- Prior experience in customer service, retail, or a similar role is a plus.
Compensation & Commission: Our sales staff are paid hourly and commission based on sales.
