Mattern & Craig, an employee owned Engineering and Survey Firm, is looking for a motivated and responsible individual for a leadership position in our Transportation Division. The focus of the position is managing VDOT and municipal roadway and related projects. This is a senior level Project Manager/Division Manager– Transportation Engineering position in the Roanoke office serving the Roanoke and Western Virginia market. Applicants must be proficient with VDOT methodology and have working knowledge of design plan preparation using Open Roads Design, GEOPAK and MicroStation. Experience with VDOT projects is highly desired but equivalent experience in other DOT work will be considered.
Beyond project management, this role includes business development and team management. Previous client and project development experience, excellent communication skills and a willingness to lead a team are required. The successful candidate will manage multiple transportation design projects; develop project schedules and budgets; supervise design team members and provide quality assurance for meeting design criteria and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role will require assisting in business development activities, the development of Statements of Qualifications (SOQ), technical proposals and presentations; and responsibly coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, government and regulatory agencies.
Experience:
- VA Registered PE preferred or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia within 6 months
- BSCE from ABET accredited engineering program
- Excellent engineering design, written, and communication skills
- Minimum of 12 yrs of technical experience and 5 years of project management and client services experience
- Experience with VDOT and municipalities is a plus
