About the Company:
Join a leading Die Casting company based in Wheeling, Illinois! We are looking for an experienced CMM Programmer to become an integral part of our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience programming using PC DMIS or Calypso, with a solid background in quality assurance and layout techniques in the Die Casting industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Director of Quality Assurance.
- Validate products produced from production tools to meet engineering standards via PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Schedule layout activities for layout technicians and oversee all End of Run (EOR) inspections for Die Cast, CNC, and Secondary operations.
- Obtain sample part weights as per the Sample Part Process and maintain the sample bay in an organized manner.
- Provide CMM training to staff as required.
- Perform MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis) and SPC (Statistical Process Control) capability studies when necessary.
- Conduct First Piece & In-Process checks in CNC, Die Cast, and Secondary departments that require CMM usage.
- Assist the Laboratory Technician in calibrating internal gages when needed.
- Adhere to work instructions, control plans, and workmanship standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Generate Tooling Work Orders as needed.
- Communicate nonconformities to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure all work follows safety rules and ISO/IATF 16949 system requirements.
About You:
We are looking for someone with:
- High School Diploma (College degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Layout Technician in Aluminum Die-Casting or a related field.
- Proficiency in Geometric Tolerancing and Blueprint Reading.
- Strong background in quality control and use of various measuring instruments.
- Experience programming and operating CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
- Experience in SPC and MSA.
- Supervision and leadership training is a plus.
- Experience working with ISO/IATF 16949 documentation and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is desirable.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
- In-depth understanding of customer drawings, tolerances, and requirements for die-casting and machining.
- PC DMIS or Calypso programming experience is a major advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, considering others’ ideas and opinions.
