What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Tech I position at Matthew Warren Industries, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Tech will perform inspections of products to ensure all products meet quality standards.
REPORTING TO:
Quality Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Generate Gage Control reports detailing gages which are overdue, or due in the current month.
- Set up, clean and calibrate testing and measuring equipment. Update Gage Control records as needed, as well as ensuring gages are properly identified with appropriate calibration stickers.
- Establish techniques for proper examination of product under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Identify, document, report and process nonconformances using given tools; ERP, 8D, 5-Why, etc. and other duties as directed.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards.
- Organize, prepare test report(s) results and send to customer as needed.
- Perform review and acceptance of outside processing and or raw material certifications, under supervision of Quality Engineer. Scan and file both electronically and hard copy.
- Under supervision of Quality Engineer produce certifications for shipments when required.
- After appropriate training, independently create ballooned drawings, inspection Protocols, and embed quality requirements in Epicor methods under supervision of Quality Engineer.
- After appropriate training and under the QE’s supervision, generate portions of, or a complete, PPAP package.
- Interface daily with management about work priorities and progress of projects.
- Conduct in process inspection requirements as directed by QA leader and or production schedule.
- Conduct receiving inspection of raw materials, materials returning from outside processing as directed by the QA leader and or production schedule.
- Conduct final audit of finished product and paperwork prior to customer shipment as directed by QA leader and or production schedule, including working with customer source or government/military inspectors to release shipments.
- Report discrepancies, complete non-conformance reporting documentation and enter data into spreadsheets or ERP system as directed.
- Complete necessary certification reports/paperwork for all product inspected.
- Any/all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
- Ability to perform minimal data entry/clerical tasks
- Effectively read, write and communicate in English; Spanish is a plus
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience required
- Average level of computer literacy.
- 1 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and seldom lifting to 50lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
