What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Body Shop Technician position at Matthews Auto Group?
Essential Job Duties:
- Performs automotive body and related repairs
- Removes, installs, adjusts, and aligns body components
- Documents all repair and maintenance actions on Work Orders
- Provides written estimates of repair when requested
- Keep shop area neat and clean
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ensures vehicle security and safety while in shop
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management
- Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
- Participate and keep up to date with on the job training and continuing education required by Manufacturers, Vendors and other outside sources as requested by Management.
- Prepares vehicles properly for paint (tape, mask, wet sand, etc.)
- Wet sand and polish vehicles to production finish standards
- Ability to see sanding paint flaws, scratches and imperfections
- Rub individual auto parts or entire vehicle without burning through paint
- Recognize the need to ask for assistance if needed
- Document any quality issues found and inform the Team Leader / Manager in a timely manner

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
