POSITION SUMMARY
The Print Production Manager supervises day-to-day print department operations, including policy, procedure, labor utilization, cost, quality, and capacity. The ideal candidate for this role will be an expert in packaging graphics execution, color management, able to read proofs, take client feedback, and collaborate with printers. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the overall prepress timeline and working proactively to help solve printing and prepress challenges, and engage in customer issues with proof to press match. This position will work directly with client and key operations team to help drive and maintain color standardization and centralization across the business. To excel in this role, you will have the following expertise :
Strong foundation in pre-press techniques : Experience with file preparation, color management, and ensuring designs are production-ready.
Knowledge of various printing processes : Familiarity with flexographic printing is a must, along with a strong understanding of offset printing and general commercial printing.
Proactive problem-solving : Ability to identify potential production challenges during the design phase and propose solutions that align with both design intent and production feasibility.
The person in this role will be reguired to travel for press runs up to 50% of the time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates day-to-day print shop operations on strict deadlines.
Improves set up procedures leading to cost improvement.
Improves quality and consistency of all print.
Manages labor utilization.
Performs supervisory responsibilities including performance reviews of staff.
Supports the development of related policies and procedures.
Supports company sponsored events.
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
6 years progressive print production experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years in a leadership role (direct or indirect). Prior managerial / supervisory experience preferred
Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and / or internationally may be required.
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
