The SGK Print Senior Machine Operator in the Finishing Department is responsible for setting up, calibrating and operating machines of various sizes in accordance with production schedules and safety policies, producing materials and parts for a variety of applications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates machinery in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
Produces parts within quality standards and performs periodic inspections on parts to maintain and control quality.
Operates equipment safely in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
Follows Job Safety Analysis and wears required personal protective equipment.
Directs and trains helper(s) with assigned machinery to maintain production goals and utilization and ensure safety of all personnel at machines.
Completes all production paperwork as required.
Conducts inspection as directed at various intervals during production shift.
Shuts down and blocks machinery at end of production process or shift.
Cross-trains on other positions in the plant as assigned.
Uses forklifts and other various hand tools according to production schedules and quality standards.
Performs quality checks / inspections of materials and parts. Rejects unsatisfactory material and parts, and notifies manager of rejected parts and quality issues.
Records any scrap material and submits to production scheduler for inventory balancing.
Additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
4 years of previous machine operator experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Forklift certification preferred
Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and / or internationally may be required.
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
Ability to work overtime as necessary
Must have current driver’s license.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
Regularly / Occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Regularly / Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
