What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney position at Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C.?
Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C., a growing national subrogation and litigation firm with offices in Hartford, WI; New Orleans, LA; Irvine, CA; Austin, TX; and Jacksonville, FL, is seeking an associate attorney with 2-5 years' of insurance defense and/or subrogation experience, to join our rapidly growing team at our Austin, TX branch. The desired candidate must have a track record of success, ability to handle cases, unilaterally or as an associate alongside an assigned partner; experience with motion practice, discovery, fact depositions, and expert discovery desired; federal or multi-jurisdictional practice experience ideal; attorneys familiar with handling personal injury, fire loss litigation and product liability defense and/or subrogation work also preferred. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent legal research and writing abilities. A candidate with portable business a plus.
Attorneys are provided opportunities to engage in challenging, substantive work, along with the ability to control their own caseload. The ability to maintain and develop client relationships is critical. In addition, excellent time management skills and organizational habits are critical to the prioritizing and meeting deadlines. The ideal candidate must be able to work well both individually and as team. Administrative skills, such as timekeeping, is a must as well a basic level of technology skills (case management software, MS Office, etc.)
