DESCRIPTION
Recent graduates interested in a career in product development will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by assisting our Food Scientists in the development of a wide range of food and beverage products. Interns will support our Food Scientists in the product development process from the initial generation of ideas through the bench top iterations to the final approved formulation. This is a temporary 3 to 4 month paid internship position. Positions are available throughout the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Food Scientists in all aspects involved in the research and development of food and beverage products.
- Weigh and prepare formulations for a wide variety of products from beverages, snack foods, and baked goods to retorted, refrigerated and frozen food products.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of products for internal tastings, client meetings, shelf life and consumer testing.
- Conduct analytical tests that include: pH, Titratable Acidity, Moisture Analysis, Brix, Water Activity, Brookfield and Bostwick Viscosity measurements.
- Assist in preparing, testing and evaluating shelf life products.
- Source and order ingredients, contact suppliers for pricing, specifications and other documentation, as needed.
- Enter formulas and ingredient information into the ESHA Genesis program for nutritional analysis, as needed.
- Support the Consumer Insights team, as needed.
- Assist with work in the pilot plant and at off-site production facilities, as needed.
- B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Nutrition or related discipline.
- Restaurant or Food Service experience a plus
- Adaptable and able to work on multiple projects each day.
- Able to stand for extended hours and lift up to 30 lbs.
