Role Summary
As Finance Director of a growing $50 million privately held candy company this position is a pivotal member of the executive leadership team responsible for the strategic management of the company's financial operations. The Finance Director will oversee all financial planning, accounting (cost accounting), payroll, budgeting, risk management, and financial reporting processes, ensuring the long-term financial stability of the organization. This individual will play a key role in shaping the company’s strategy while driving profitability and cash flow growth by providing financial insights, financial projections, maintaining banking relations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Finance Director will report to the President and will partner closely with the VP’s, Bank, and Business Unit Managers to deliver value across the organization. Direct reports will include finance, accounting, operations logistics, HR, and IT.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Leadership
  • Lead the development and execution of the company's financial strategy aligned with long-term business goals.
  • Provide key financial insights and recommendations to influence corporate strategy, investments, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with the President to establish financial goals, monitor progress, and present financial reports.
  • Strategically manages capital allocation decisions to achieve the highest and best use of capital.
  • Drive the company’s capital strategy, including equity and debt financing, and manage relationships with family shareholders, banks, investors, and other financial institutions to balance the capital needs of the business with the desired liquidity from the shareholders.

Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, cost accounting as well as liquidity reports such as borrowing base line of credit and debt/ working capital forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasting models, and risk management strategies to support decision-making.
  • Oversee internal controls, audit processes, and risk management to safeguard company assets.
Operational Oversight:
  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
  • Identifies optimal departmental structure and talent to efficiently deliver to organizational requirements.
  • Ensures optimal IT infrastructure to provide required reporting and transaction systems.
  • Optimize financial operations by streamlining processes, reducing inefficiencies, and improving the use of financial systems and technology.
  • Ensure the alignment of financial goals with operational strategies and key business initiatives.
  • Implement best practices in financial management, cost control, and business analytics.
Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Drive financial due diligence, valuation, and integration for potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, asset dispositions and/ or strategic partnerships.
  • Identify and assess potential growth opportunities and business risks.
  • Ensure smooth financial reporting transitions as business needs evolve.
Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including market volatility, credit risk, liquidity, and operational risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and reporting standards.
  • Oversee insurance programs, including property, liability, and other risk management initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills
Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA or CFA highly preferred.
  • NetSuite knowledge.
  • Cloud based NetSuite, Cloud based Microsoft Dynamics 365, Cloud based Oracle, Cloud Based SAP experience.
  • High degree of inventory management/reporting knowledge.

Experience Required:
  • 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial management role (CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director etc.).
  • Experience within manufacturing and CPG a must.
  • Successfully restructured debt and managed banking relationships.
  • Ability to lead, along with the CEO, the organization through a period of change.
  • Proven experience in managing financial operations for a complex organization with annual revenue greater than $100m.
  • Demonstrated success in capital raising, M&A, and managing investor relations.
  • Experience working with Entrepreneur’s and Brands is a plus.
  • Experience with online retail is a plus.

Ability to work full time in an office
Salary: $130,000/Year
