We are seeking a passionate and driven Equipment Operations Manager to join our mission of meeting the critical needs in West Maui by helping our land assets reach their fullest potential. In this pivotal role, you'll be charged with oversight of various aspects of MLP's equipment operations related to transforming and maintaining MLP's land assets. This role is essential to ensure the efficient and safe operation of machinery and vehicles used for land management, agricultural practices, and resource conservation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in equipment operation and maintenance, construction, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various teams.
Job Summary:
As Equipment Operations Manager, you'll be empowered to:
- Be a key team member in bringing MLP's lands back into productive uses such as agriculture, regenerative tourism, outdoor activities, conservation, and more.
- Work alongside MLP's Land Assets team and collaborate closely with MLP's Land Operations Manager.
- Lead and manage all aspects of MLP's equipment operations and other related activities on MLP's lands.
- Actively manage MLP's equipment and related assets to ensure maintenance, safety, access, security, risk mitigation, fire control, and community goals are being met.
- Work independently, thrive in the outdoors, and be a self-starter with a can-do spirit.
- Actively operate equipment and perform other construction-related tasks
- Supervise and train equipment operations and maintenance staff.
- Oversee operations, maintenance, and repair of machinery to ensure safety and performance.
- Develop schedules for equipment use and maintenance to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and conduct regular safety training.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Work with land assets management and other departments to support company objectives.
- Assist in developing and managing the equipment operations budget for cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare performance and maintenance reports for management review.
- Assist in developing and implementing equipment operations plans.
- Maintain positive relationships with community groups, tenants, government agencies, and vendors.
- Collaborate a diverse network of contractors, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Advise MLP leadership on equipment operations issues.
- Thrive as a self-starter working outdoors with a proactive attitude.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have an understanding and/or connection to West Maui's community.
- College degree not required for this role, but equivalent experience and knowledge will be highly considered.
- Valid drivers license and basic computer skills.
- Have 5 years of experience in operations management of heavy equipment and crews.
- Demonstrate expertise in one or more areas like heavy equipment, civil construction, deforestation, land clearing, or construction trades.
- Possess strong management, communication, and stakeholder engagement
- Understanding of construction management and reporting.
- Be a passionate leader with a collaborative spirit and a results-oriented mindset.
- Be able to complete physically strenuous work activities in remote areas.
Additional Qualification (Desired):
- Proficient in Native Hawaiian language or a deep understanding of Hawaiian culture.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
