Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a Staff Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our growing Seattle office. This is an exciting opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain hands-on experience in environmental site assessments, fieldwork, compliance-driven investigations and data analysis while working alongside experienced mentors. If you are excited about environmental science or geology and eager to build a career in consulting, we'd love to hear from you!
As a Staff Geologist / Environmental Scientist,
You won't just be a spectator-you will be in the thick of real-world environmental projects from day one. This role is heavily field based, with the majority of your time spent conducting environmental investigations, ensuring industrial and regulatory compliance, and collecting critical environmental data. You will log soil cores from drill rigs, oversee drilling activities, and install, develop, and sample groundwater monitoring wells to assess subsurface conditions. Your work will include sampling sediment, soil, groundwater, stormwater, soil vapor, and indoor air to evaluate environmental impacts and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Beyond fieldwork, you will contribute to environmental compliance efforts, helping industrial clients navigate complex regulatory requirements related to groundwater, stormwater, and air quality. You will analyze field and laboratory data, assess regulatory compliance, and support permitting efforts, working directly with environmental agencies to ensure project alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. You will also participate in developing and implementing compliance strategies, preparing reports, and assisting industrial clients in understanding and meeting environmental requirements. Whether conducting compliance audits, helping clients identify pollution reduction measures, or engaging with subcontractors and regulators, you will play a vital role in ensuring environmental and industrial compliance while gaining invaluable experience in environmental consulting.
To thrive in this role, you must have...
- Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or a related field.
- No prior experience required - we will provide training!
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred or obtainable upon hire).
- Basic knowledge of environmental science principles, data collection methods, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) or Google Suite.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
