Academics Plus Charter Schools, Inc. (APCSI) is seeking an innovative and qualified Geometry and Higher Level Math Teacher to join our team.
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competences and skills to function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a part of the base salary, Employee will provide students with enrichment activities or remediation two (2) days a week as approved by the principal, chief operating officer or executive director.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLC) as approved by the principal, chief operating officer or executive director 3 days a week.
- Work the entire school day and all other hours scheduled, including those on nights, early mornings and weekends, this includes by not limited to high school graduation, open house and fall festival
- Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from students; hold students accountable for high performance; recognize excellence and achievement.
- Establish and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment in which students actively participate and show respect for one another and the teacher.
- Assess, track, and provide feedback to students on their progress and assignments and maintain a record of grades.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Help Students to analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of APCSI.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members to establish a positive learning environment.
- Meet the parents and guardians to discuss the children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
- Participate in activities which are related to school functions and/or educational process which occur outside the regular school day.
- Provide students with enrichment activities or remediation two days a week as approved by the principal or executive director.
- Communicate positively with students, parents, visitors and staff.
- Effectively and positively communicate orally and in writing.
- Maintain a positive attitude and represent the school in a positive manner at all times.
