Position Overview: Maurices – Corporate Internships - Job Description The maurices 2023 Corporate Summer Internships are designed as highly engaging and hands-on opportunities to learn about retail business operations and provide exposure to senior-level leaders. These 10-week, Duluth, MN-based, paid summer internships, are created using maurices blended learning approach, which focuses on the 3 E’s (experience, exposure, and education). In addition, you will gain practice in business etiquette and have an opportunity to utilize your communication, presentation, and time management skills. What you will experience: Hands-on learning with regular, functional touchpoints to understand how business areas partner across the organization. Daily departmental responsibilities as well as participation in meetings with business partners. Classroom training focused on areas of personal development (i.e. leadership, communication, leading through strengths etc). Interaction with all levels of leadership through roundtable discussions and mentoring opportunities. Cross-functional and cross-departmental exposures, plus shadowing is encouraged and facilitated. Project Participation and Presentation to Executives related to a business strategy or process improvement (either group or individual). Involvement in community outreach Where you could be working: INTEGRATED PRODUCT TEAM: our ‘IPT’ includes Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, Sourcing, Design, Technical Design and Visual Merchandising departments. An internship experience within IPT will help prepare students for a career in any of these product-related functions, offer exposure to all aspects of a product-related career as well as a broad overview of maurices business structure. FINANCE: our highly analytical and results-oriented, Finance Team makes an immediate impact on corporate strategy and direction. Internship opportunities could include areas such as Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting, Treasury, Real Estate or Legal. DIGITAL & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Committed to applying technology to solve business problems, our IT Team partners across the company, using cutting-edge tools, and create and uphold technology standards and processes. An internship within IT will have you generating and implementing new strategic or systematic approaches and creating dynamic technology solutions for our rapidly growing business. SUPPLY CHAIN: Our Supply Chain team synchronizes supply and demand, while measuring global business performance. Supporting our global logistics network utilizing our brand-new, state-of-the-art Distribution Center, our Supply Chain intern will partner with multiple business areas and with our third-party vendors to efficiently deliver products. HUMAN RESOURCES: The HR team is dedicated to identifying, acquiring, developing, and retaining the talent that makes us maurices. In addition to supporting our associates at the Home Office and in our stores, our team is continually focused on being ‘culture keepers.’ HR Interns will gain exposure to a variety of areas within our multi-faceted Human Resources department including recruiting, support, and HR Business Strategy. Our interns will gain foundational knowledge to ultimately build a long-term career path in Human Resources. What Makes a Good Candidate? Education: Must be a rising junior or senior student (Grad Class 2023 or 2024) (if you are graduating in 2025 or after, we have a separate posting for “Sophomore Summit” and/or you could be eligible for our Field Leadership Internships Experience: Retail experience is preferred. Skills: Excellent academic record, strong communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary, and must be computer proficient (MS Office Suite). An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to work independently or collaboratively will be necessary. What else should I expect? These internships are located in our Corporate Headquarters in Duluth, MN. This is a full time (40 hours/week), non-exempt (hourly) internship, and can include a small housing stipend. Other benefits include our associate discount, a parking pass and access to our onsite fitness center.
