What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Driver position at Mauser Packaging Solutions?
Summary
This position is responsible for properly receiving incoming inventory, timely staging and timely shipping outgoing orders while adhering to safety procedures and providing accurate, timely shipments. Provides the various value streams with assistance in establishing effective material flow and replenishment in order to achieve premier customer service and lower inventory.
Essential Functions
- May perform activities related to load planning of outbound trucks to meet customer delivery requirements and cost parameters.
- Utilize material handling equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, skids, etc. to stage materials and load trucks.
- Verify product against shipping documents and authorizations, pack product for shipment according to specifications.
- Prepare bills of lading, post weight and shipping charges in appropriate systems.
- Maintain inventory levels of supplies such as cartons, tape and other packing material.
- Apply knowledge of department policies and procedures to resolve customer and operational concerns/issues as needed.
- Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, customer service, and production.
- Build and maintain positive relationships within each service area/department; coordinating and utilizing resources to ensure all products are handled, stored and shipped according to established guidelines, at the lowest possible cost.
- Work closely with management staff to understand and assist with implementing action plans to achieve department objectives and improve efficiencies.
- Assist management with departmental activities, training, safety and special projects.
- Read, understand and comply with relevant federal, state, local and company safety regulations and policies (e.g., OSHA, Personal Protective Equipment, Safety Shoes, etc.)
- Reinforce safety training and safe work practices; participate in safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow Company recommended techniques for lifting, stacking, manipulating and handling materials and operating Powered Industrial Vehicles.
- Assist with performing ancillary duties related to Production Expediting, coordinating the movement of materials throughout the facility.
- Receive raw materials, components or equipment unloaded from trucks.
- Verify incoming materials against bills of lading, packing slips, etc.
- Maintain records of good received and damaged goods.

Physical Requirements:
- Plant facility runs Monday to Friday weekly repeating consistently, excluding designated holidays or prearranged shut down.
- Employee’s base schedule is: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm weekly repeating.
- Ability to be on feet consistently 8 hours up to a 12 hours per scheduled shift
- Plant does consistently schedule overtime on a daily and/or weekly basis.
- Overtime when scheduled is mandatory and can be extending working shift from an 8-hour workday to up to a 12-hour workday on an individual day during a schedule week.
- Overtime can also be scheduled by adding on an additional workday on an unscheduled workday for a scheduled shift from 8 hours up to 12 hours.
- Example: a regular Friday scheduled shift can be changed from 7am to 3:30pm, 8-hour workday, to an 5am to 5pm or 7am to 7pm schedule for a 12-hour scheduled shift.
- Example: A regular Saturday/Sunday scheduled day off, can be scheduled on either day for an 8-hour up to 12-hour shift, due to production demands and staffing coverage.
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. overhead loading product onto trailers
- Ability to get on and off company equipment, forklift, to load and unload assigned trailers and move product throughout production site.

- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- The work environment can be very hot, over 90 degrees.

- Ability to wear company required personal protective equipment; safety glasses, hardhat, earplugs, gloves, and any other necessary item based on assigned task.
